Who IS Captive Eye?

A person with wind-tousled, hair, sunglasses and a big grin looks at the camera. They are wearing a black sweatshirt with purple lining. The sky is blue with white clouds. There is a blue food truck in the background.

The first camera I ever used was a Pentax MX, owned by my father. I was seven years old when I convinced him to teach me how to use it so that I could enter a photo contest. In the end, the film wasn’t developed in time…but the shop that developed it asked permission to print a copy of one of my photos and it hung on the wall there for a while. To this day, that little camera is still my favourite imaging tool.

I created Captive Eye in 2009. It’s primarily a way to showcase my personal work. On occasion, I take on paid work with a preference for environmental portraiture and candid-style portraits. It’s my opinion that portraits should capture who you are, not just what you look like.
